  1. MY "INDEPENDENCE DAY" HOLIDAY

    07.Jul.08, 01:57 EDT
Yes, I spent it with Will Smith. Metaphorically speaking, of course. I saw "Hancock" and was blown away. It's a great movie. The fact that it has netted some $110 million dollars over this past weekend speaks for itself. For those of you who haven't seen it. I won't give details. Go see it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
  2. BET AWARDS SHOW

    07.Jul.08, 01:34 EDT

Better late than never I say. This was a great show. Usher's performance was good. Ne-Yo's performance surprised many. It was better than I expected. T-Pain's ringmaster and mad scientist's skits and performances were really enjoyable. Keyshia Cole and Lil Kim did well.

Let me see who else. Hmm...BET could've picked a different host. His jokes fell kind of flat to me. Am I the only one who felt this way? The connection to the audience wasn't really there...you know. Rihanna did very well. Chris Brown did extremely well. His dance moves with Ciara left me in awe. The chemistry between partners was there. Rihanna saw it, too. Al Green...this man is a musical genius and he still has it. Congratulations to Quincy Jones and Al Green. Congratulations to all honorees and award recipients. I loved the speeches of Al Green, Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah, and John Legend.

  3. Spring is in the air

    20.Mar.08, 03:19 EDT
Today is the first day of spring. To me, it represents renewal. Flowers bloom and dance in the calm breeze. It reminds me of how I love to stand beneath a cherry blossom tree. I believed that when the wind blew that the cherry blossoms that rained down on me were GOD's blessings.

I look to the blue sky as the clouds go by and see beautiful things emerge in my mind's eye. I skip rocks across the surface of a calm lake. I watch for the ripple effect in awe.

I see starry nights filled with magic. There goes a shooting star. I make a wish. I am reminded of bonfires on the beach burning bright. Embers that float to heaven and answered prayers. Music and laughter are in the air.

I am reminded of frothy waves from the ocean. Messages in bottles delivered to the shore entangled in seaweed. I love the sand and find a rare conch shell nearby. I listen wistfully for a sound from the fabled city of Atlantis.
  4. The BET Honors

    24.Feb.08, 04:23 EST

It was truly a treat. I loved the gown that Alicia Keys was wearing. It was very regal. I also loved the peacock feathers on Tyra Banks' gown. I really love the exotic effect. Congratulations to all the recipients of the prestigious award.

By far, Alicia Keys also gave the best speech. She was speechless at first but, she grew into her own. We truly are the wonders of this world.

The performance by Stevie Wonder was outstanding. I know of someone else who wishes to sing with him. I hope that great dreams really do come true. I also loved Jill Scott, John Legend, and Gladys Knight's performance, too.

  5. The Grammys

    11.Feb.08, 03:41 EST
The highlight of the show for me was seeing the celebrities. The show was kind of flat to me. I know that if R. Kelly had performed an inspirational set the audience would have definitely perked up just like caffeinated coffee.

Someone should have told Soulja Boy to dress beforehand in formal wear. Where are his reps at? I was absolutely disgusted by Nas and Kelis wearing the "N" word on their clothing. For goodness sake, it's Black History Month.

On a lighter note, I did enjoy the performances of Alicia Keys, Foo Fighters, and The Time. I like a variety of music. Did anyone watch the show? Tell me what you thought.

It was announced that the Writers' Strike is over. That's great news.
  6. MY YOUTHFUL PASTTIME

    22.Jan.08, 01:11 EST

When I was younger, I lived by a lake. I caught my first glimpse of amazing things. I could see catfish and tadpoles in its murky depths. I even spotted a lillypad or two. There were hummingbirds, butterflies and flowers galore. Buttercups, violets, and dandelions were my favorites. I would place buttercups to my chin on sunny days. The yellow residue/reflection that remained I believed was given to me by the kiss of a fairy prince. I would ever so gently blow the dandelions and make a wish and I knew in my heart that the breeze would carry the seeds to heaven. I would give handfuls of violets to my mother and love to watch her smile. Every spring, an island would appear in our lake. Sometimes, my friends and I searched for buried treasure. We never found any but, beautiful rocks of different shapes and colors sufficed. We would take turns crossing the island and exploring the other side of the lake. We never got too far because there was bracken. One day, we decided to go on an adventure through the woods surrounding our neighborhood. We followed a trail that lead us through trees, pesky bugs, and a sky that seemed to stretch on forever. About 1 1/2 miles into our adventure, the sky became less visible and the trees took on menancing and eerie appearances. We quickly turned around and running retraced our steps out of there. As we exited, the sunshine kissed our skin with warmth and we were assured that we survived and made a pact to never do that again. We were still in store for one more surprise. In the lining of our jackets, there were bugs galore. We screamed to the top of our lungs. Our jackets were shed in a hurry and left in the grass. Okay, there were only about four bugs in each of our jackets. Hey, but it seemed like a hundred.
