Hello,
I am a self taught artist and I've been painting for about 3 years. I create collectable art cards and sell them through my blog site and various online auction sites. They measure a whopping size of 2.5" x 3.5"!

I know what it's like to be a starving artist as I am a single mother of 5 with no child support (arghhh deadbeat dad) so there's not a lot of food left for mom. I've also had 3 job interviews in the last week and have ran out of gas going to each one. (Ended up walking in the snow every time) Haven't been called back for them either.

Added note: It's as if bad fate is after us! After entering this contest, my car has seen it's better days and left me stranded at, of all places, a gas station on my way to a job interview! A blown head gasket has forced me to park the car in the drive. I am no longer in danger of running out of gas though as I now have to walk everywhere.   We applied for  government assistance and were approved, however, it  has taken nearly a month and a half in order for it to kick in.  We continuously visit food pantries and thanks to the generosity of friends and family, we're getting by. I would love to win this contest, not only for recognition of the work and passion I put into my art, but to also pay off some very overdue bills that have been haunting my family and I for quite some time now. There have been many nights of insomnia and many days of wondering which utility company is coming to shut off the water or turn off the lights. We are fortunate enough to have a very patient and understanding landlord. She has confidence in me that I will bounce back and our family life will return to "norm". Winning this contest will allow us a "leg up" on that goal. There are days when I doubt myself, however, I find much needed strength within my children who love me unconditionally. They're pulling for me in this contest, I hope you will too :)
