Assorted Donuts
In case you've come across my profile here on moli and have no clue who I am, let me recommend a mix that I did about a year an a half ago... It's a tribute mix to the late great J Dilla aka Jay Dee in which I teamed up with Questlove's website Okayplayer . Originally I had remixed a few tracks off of Donuts but when Kweli gave me a freestyle over an unreleased Dilla track and I mysteriously received a Notorious B.I.G. remix that Dilla had personally done, it turned into a bigger project. It's been a year and a half since we released it online as a free download and in that time the response has been tremendous. It has received almost 100,000 downloads and was nominated by VH-1 and Vibe Magazine for the 2007 Mixtape Of The Year award (I lost to Kanye West). Now, I didn't personally know Dilla but was a huge fan of his production and music. If you're one of the many who's isn't familar with his music then I highly recommend u check out this mix! COMME des GARCONS for H&M
I'm quite anticipating the upcoming COMME des GARCONS for H&M collaboration, Rei Kawakubo will design a womens and a mens collection, there will also be accessories and an exclusive unisex fragrance will also be included in the collection. The world launch of the collection will be at the opening of H&Ms second store in Tokyo, Japan, on November 8th. Launch date for other H&M markets will be on November 13th.
I have always been interested in the balance between creation and business. It is a dilemma, although for me creation has always been the first priority. It is a fascinating challenge to work with H&M since it is a chance to take the dilemma to its extreme, and try to solve it, says Rei Kawakubo, COMME des GARNS.
The collection consists of both womens and mens and is clearly very Japanese and stays true to Rei Kawakubos avant-garde style. Come November, Im sure all Rei Kawakubo/COMME des GARCONS fans will invade H&M. Im hoping I will be able get a piece or two- lots of polka dots, the black lolita goth dress is quite interesting, the details are amazing and jackets are all great. They even made the female models look like Rei Kawakubo, how cute- I love it! Check out the men's preview here. What are your thoughts?
Lace, Lace, Lace...
Prada Fall 2008 RTW via Style.com
Get your lace on ladies, lace is a key trend this fall season! On the runways, designers like Prada, Derek Lam, Giorigo Armani and Alexander McQueen all featured lace in their collections. The look of lace is feminine, antique, sexy and sophisticated but also can be played down depending on how you work the outfit. I personally prefer not to wear it head to toe- that's too much, one piece of lace per outfit is the way to go. Lace is so fabulous!

Headbands
Blake Lively and Leighton Meester on the set of Gossip Girl
I must admit I'm a huge fan of Gossip Girl and the fashion in the show (who isn't right?), Leighton Meester aka Blair Waldorf wears a headband all the time in the show and it has slowly influenced me as well. I've ordered a bunch of headbands these past few nights and dug out some of my old one as well.
Dee & Ricky was sweet enough to make me a Lego Red Heart Headband, which is super cute! I've worn it yesterday and got a bunch of compliments and questions about it already- will def put it more in use! The only problem is sometimes headbands give me headaches- does that happen to you? Since feathers is a big hit for this season, I've bought a few headbands with feathers- can't wait to get it!!
Leighton Meester on set
I'd mostly buy cheaper ones since my fad will go away at anytime, I'm so unpredictable sometimes! Are you a fan of headbands? Any nice ones you can recommend?
Printed Leggings
DimePiece L.A. Legs $65
I'm a huge fan of leggings, no matter in or out I'll still be rockin' them- they're a staple in my closet just like jeans. Luckily leggings is still strong haha, I can't get enough of them. Besides the basic black leggings I also love printed ones, the funkier the better. They look super hot with a plain top and shoes, they're different and attracts a lot of attention when you're roaming the city in them.
When I rocked the DimePiece L.A. Legs in just 2 hours I had about 10 people come up to me complimenting them and asking where they can get themselves a pair- super hot! Printed leggings make a simple outfit more interesting and definitely a trendy item!! Get yourself a pair!!
Check out some of my favorites below...

interviewing the www.rapnews.fr - july 22nd entry...
So the Fine folk at the website www.rapnews.fr came thru to the favela chic party to interview me, BUT being the slick person that I am, I flipped it around and put the camera on them. Here is a quick and unfortunately low lit glance at the people behind one of France's FINEST hip hop websites - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTkEWeErIVA AND of course - Peep out the interview , which is pretty extensive and uses a lot of existing footage right HERE. or skip the french text and go directly to the videotape below
Favela Chic with Uncle T.... july 22 st entry
So during the day I linked up with my man uncle T, as shown in the previous blog. A really cool all around chap, he invited me to throw down for the FIRST TIME in PARIS at a party he does at a spot called Favela Chic. While we were there I linked up with some good peoples at a website called www.rapnews.fr. They proceeded to cover the event, and subsequently did an interview with me which I'll post up in the next blog. Peep the video blog for the favela chic party. Real Hip Hop exists still y'all. People still dance at parties y'all. Please stop standing around staring at each others sneakers y'all. Peep how the parisians get down over here at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daGuwWY5xxI for high quality goodness....
Vive le Paris! A well needed day of chillin...
If you haven't heard it , click HERE, to download, go to www.turntablelab.com to support it if ya enjoy it!!! UNCLE T, was a real cool cat, and brought me around Paris, to do as the locals do... We did some site seeing, hit the record spots and the sneaker spots. Thats the one big thing that I'll appreciate about hip hop the most. We are complete strangers, different cultures, different languages... but thru THE MUSIC we find a common bond that makes us like longtime friends. Thats that sh*t right there... On top of everything, he asked me if I would like to through down at his party at this famous spot called Favela CHic ... and of course the chance to rock for Paris is something I wouldn't turn down... Stay tuned for that.... Peep the video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=posheZArYqQ
Turntablism lives on in Denmark - with DJ Noize and DJ Static
A Time long long ago, I used to spend my days chilin with my crew The 5th Platoon, practicing skills all day long - peep this video from back in the day - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqLaJkE24nM - yeah, thats me in a doo rag... It seems like a lifetime ago, as the landscape of DJing has changed and the hey days of the turntablist movement are long gone in the States. To my suprise I ran into some old friends of mine, who were opening up for non other than my boss JAY-Z.DJ Noize and Static are 2 of my turntablist brethren FROM DENMARK, who still are able to subsist rocking crowds turntablist style, something pretty much unheard of stateside. But just like a lot of music, Europeans just have a tendency to appreciate things of quality a lot more. The crazy thing is I haven't seen these fellows in quite some time. Static I haven't seen since 1997, and Noise I haven't seen in a good 8 years I would say. How time flies.... Peep the video as I do a little interview to introduce y'all who aren't up on them - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iokaxtiBQU Runnin into old friends is always a trip, and one of the things that are most memorable about trips such as this one -
And getting to watch them perform reminded me of why I got into this whole DJ thing in the 1st place.... Peep out how they warm up the crowd for jay . BY THE WAY - DENMARK HAS BY FAR - the dopest Hip Hop fans out there - They know all the words, they move in time - and they braved the rain just to get their fix of hip hop... Peep Static and Noize rock it , on 4 turntables, 2 of DENMARK's FINEST! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR89WAQ1fP0
Purple Rain in Denmark
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBsKVCa3gc8 - watch it in high quality clickin here... From poland, we took a flight over to Copenhagen Denmark and then drove out to a place called Roskilde to join the Roskilde Festival This was the LAST day of the 4 day festival which encompassed all types of music - Radiohead, Judas Priest, My bloody Valentine, Neil Young, THe Chemical Brothers, and SLAYER - to name a few. On this final day, Jay-z and the roc boys took center stage - and by this time, the crowd was pretty freakin crazy. Among other things I would end up seeing - A group of folk doing a drunken ring around the rosy - with the end result being one of the girls in the group droppin her pantalones in the middle of the circle and a guy holding her up, while she peeed on the floor. Oh you crazy europeans ;) One of the other things that happened was our 1st HIT OF RAIIIN. Now usually , these festivals are mudfests , and the jay's production warned us that it would be a wet affair. Luckily we were 2 weeks into it and didn't really get any stormy clouds. BUT for this gig we did, and as an homage to the rain, jay-z had the ROC BOYS perform PRINCE's PURPLE RAIN. An instrumental version of course. Tooo bad I couldn't find a Youtube clip!!! Peep the video for that denmark festival feel....

where is FEFE DOBSON?
she was cute and could sing her canadian ass off. can she come back now? she was paving the way for black rocker girls in a time when it wasn't so cute...i think now is a good tome for her to re-appear. it's also rumored that a major pop star ripped off her whole later steez. you be the judge.also, check out my homegirl NIKI HALL who styled her at NIKIHALL.comPS. all here videos were disabled on youtube. so annoying. oh andwe're not related, thanks.
